My credentials in the black community are solid, so I don’t want to hear any garbage about me being prejudice against Obama. He just happens to be the one giving the best example of what I am talking about. He gives great speeches….he’s winning the war of words….the promises to force “change” and “give hope”, without any substantive proof that he has any ability to actually do it. STOP IT! HIS TALK DON’T MEAN SHIT!—-
It’s all talk. There is not a single substantive thing in his past; in his present, or in his future,which lends any creditibliy to thinking that he can accomplish any of the things he is talking about. Stop being swayed by talk.

Are we still electing people because they are good talkers? The hell with talking. The hell with “hope” and “change”. I’ve been hearing it since Dewey vs Truman. Tom Dewey was a famous DA (with more ties to organized crime than the Sopranos—my uncle was a detective in his office). Dewey allowed a mob “rat” to be thrown out a hotel by the detectives who were supposed to be body-guarding him before he mob trial.

Every single presidential campaign I have witnessed since the forties, had the phrases “We need change in Washington”; “I can provide hope” After 60 years of hearing about “hope” and “change” and yet, seeing niether of them….I’ve arrived at the point that it is all pure political bullshit.

We in America suffer a mental disability of believing that these guys really care about hope and change….What they REALLY care about is getting elected by promising idiots like you that they will create hope and fulfill your longings for change. No candidate in my 71 years has ever accomplished either.

The nut-jobs among us (and that means you) are always interested in IMAGE, not, SUBSTANCE. Let me remind you again…I am only jumping on Obama because he is the one that you people are flocking to, based on unsubstantiated, WORDS AND PROMISES. Words don’t feed the bulldog!

I don’t blame any of these guys and (girl) for trying to pull it it off on us; but I blame those of you who are buying this bullshit and using criteria of “LIKABLE” “WHAT A SPEAKER”, etc.
LIKABLE SPEECH-MAKERS MEAN NOTHING…..NOTHING!

WC Fields was right….didn’t he say, “There’s a sucker born every minute”? Or was it someone else? Whoever said it, was absolutely right! And then came Vance Packard…who wrote
“The Hidden Persuaders”—-where-in he proved how stupid, gullable, and real ass-holes the american public is when it comes to being influenced by advertising words, and promises by commercials, etc. etc.. my favorite examples is the study he did with regard to laundry detergent. He put the same detergent in a drab ugly brown box and in a bright, yellow and blue box…he told them to use the detergent….90% said that the detergent in the bright yellow and blue box was so, so, so much better than the detergent in the ugly brown box…
THEY DIDN’T KNOW IT WAS THE SAME FREAKIN’ DETERGENT IN BOTH BOXES.

They were fooled by the pretty image of the box it came in.
WE DO THE SAME THING WITH CANDIDATES…POLITICAL CAMPAIGNS ARE NOTHING BUT SEEMINGLY NEVER ENDING COMMERCIALS.

The Clinton’s are not likable, for more reasons than the number of “pipe-jobs” Monica gave to her lovers. But, likable or not….if indeed Bill’s 8 years in office produced the best results for this country in the last half decade, as some say…that means that the Clinton’s have tons more substance for running a country than we could ever expect of a young, attractive, hopeful Barack Obama, who has yet to prove anything….except using some bad judgment about a guy who has just been indicted in Chicago. (see further down in blog)

In the debate between Nixon and Kennedy, Nixon was much more substantive than Kennedy, and did many more substanstive things than Kennedy ever did….but Kennedy was much more “likable”, so he won.

Likability is so much easier to measure than substance is…so, Americans, who love to make life easy, ichoose image over substance every time. HOW FREAKIN’ DUMB IS THAT!

Remember about a month ago I warned you all to avoid the Rudy bankwagon…because his real of lack of substance in his New York life would show him to be “a nothing” Well, I told ya so”. His judgment and wrong decision making (like “Bernie Kerik”) proved that. Kerik goes to jail…and Rudy butt kisses McCain now so he will get some kind of 9/11 related national position.

Let’s take a look at Mr. Obama….good words, good looks, great speaker…hell of a dancer….but, where’s the beef? Well, take a look at this beef. Hillary mentioned that he has been directly tied to Tony Rezko, a prince of darkness in Chicago. Hillary was derided for mentioning it druing the debate…yet, 5 days later, the New York Post clues us in “The feds arrested Tony Rezko, political fund-raiser and backer of Barack Obama. His 2 million dollar bail revoked for his fraud, money-laundering and additional indictments. This is a bad, bad guy.
And make no mistake about it…Obama had full knowledge of what this guy was. In fact, he was on the inside of what this guy was doing; by fronting for him in some of the deals that he is now charged with. Barack was helping him do it. Barack actually got a nice deal on a home and land as a pay-back, according to justice department sources. Lawyers know everything about their big clients. Obama either DID know, or SHOULD have known…either way it was an example of a lack of judgment, and wrong decision-making.
NOW THAT’S SOMETHING SUBSTANTIVE WHEN IT COMES TO JUDGING OBAMA. His words about “Hope”and “Change” are diminished by the reality of facts.

And how about this well known phrase….”show me who your friends are, and I’ll show you what YOU are”. Ted Kennedy;
freakin’ Ted “I-could-swim-and-she-couldn’t” Kennedy is endorsing him. Now there is a friend whom you need on your side. An unabashed, untreated drunk, who literally allowed a woman to die a horrible death….and….tomorrow I will give you the REAL, unknown story of what really happend between Ted and Mary-Joe that night. Jack Caufield and Tony Ulazowitz, were two detectives I worked with in the Bureau Of Special Services. They were big shots at the time,and I was a “little shit”. PAT GIBBS IS A GREAT GUY…I guess I’ve known him for about 10 years…he’s one of those guys who gets involved, makes things happen….and enjoys it. He played an important part in discovering the street funding scam a few years ago, which involved Al Plant and Rev. Wright….funding to a church, kicking back some money, and Wright eventually went to jail. Pat used to manage the former O’Connell’s Print Shop. Pat writes for the Spectator Newspaper and even does some radio bits on the University of Delaware radio station. He was a good substitute talk show host on WDEL a few months ago; maybe too good.

A.G. TO LAUNCH FULL SCALE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION OF PEOPLES’ SETTLEMENT CHARGES OF POSSIBLE SERIOUS CRIMES

At least one Blogger who says that the alleged charges made by credible Board members against Peoples’ Settlement House Executive Director KEITH LAKE were baseless, and dropped and were dead and buried, might want to rethink her position at this point.

Apparently she was NOT part of a serious meeting held at the Attorney General’s office on Thursday morning. After a comprehensive package of evidence was presented to the Attorney General by certain board members, he decided to officially open the investigation of possible misuse of public money (to buy a personal home), and a very possible forgery of a Board member’s signature.

A litany of well known and well respected board members raised the issue some time ago…and it took until now to finally get a go-ahead by the AG’s office. Board members were very upset and want the very productive Peoples’ Settlement programs to go on…but not without first cleaning up some alleged very damaging activies. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR KEITH LAKE IS THE REPORTED TARGET OF THE INVESTIGATION.

Some of those Board members, who have backed the programs for a long time, want this matter resolved: Dennis Williams, Charles Potter, Greg Collins. Myron Neal, Anto Oakley, John Buckley, Dwyght Holden want the issue investigated.

It’s something that HAS to be looked into….I saw some of the paperwork last year…and it sure looks like serious criminal activity to me….but what do I know? The AG’s investigators are top notch guys and they will do their job well, I’m sure.

DAMN IT! CREATE LAWS THAT PREVENT CRIMES

Think about it….all our laws regarding crimes are created by well meaning legislators for actions to be taken AFTER the crime has been committed. Recently State Senator Peterson, and State Representative Greg Lavelle introduced laws to make it possible for victims of sexual abuse to sue both private and/or public school teachers, or other school personnel for such actions. That’s good, but this is BETTER….

For three years now I have beeng trying to get legilators interested in creating a law which would PREVENT sexual abuse by teachers…and here’s how it can be done.

WHY CAN’T THERE BE A LAW, WHICH REQUIRES THAT ANY CREDIBLE COMPLAINT AND/OR QUESTIONAL BEHAVIOR BY A TEACHER OR OTHER SCHOOL PERSONNEL WITH CHILDREN MUST BE ENTERED IN THE TEACHER’S FILE, AND MUST BE SENT TO ANY SCHOOL TO WHICH THAT TEACHER APPLIES FOR EMPLOYMENT.

Recent example…..Ms. Holt who was arrested for raping a student 27 times had very questionable behavior at the previous school where she worked. That’s right…Ms. Holt was warned about being “too friendly” with little boy students. She was warned not to take them home, not to be overly familiar with them. NOTHING WAS PUT IN HER FILE…THEREFORE SHE WAS ALLOWED TO MOVE ON TO CLAYMENT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WHERE SHE REPEATEDLY RAPED A YOUNG BOY.

Two years ago a felmale state senator was going to do something about it, but it never happened….but this time I have two credible heavy-hitters interestedd… give them your support.

STATE SENATOR DAVE SOKOLA AND STATE RERPESENTATIVE
BILL OBERLE EXPRESSED INTEREST IN DOING IT. Think about it, if the teachers and the principal of Holt’s previous school had formalized their complaint and warning of her “over familiarity” by haing it entered into her personnel file…I doubt that Claymont Elementary would have hired her…..thus PREVENTING the sexual abuse of a child. By the way, do you know what the FIRST action taken by the school district was, after Holt was arrested and charged?
Emails were sent to previous schools telling all personnel NOT TO TALK ABOUT MS. HOLT ABOUT HER PREVIOUS BEHAVIOR……..PLAYING THE ASS-COVERING ROUTINE.

As a former season ticket holder for 32 years from back in the day, that is the chant that 60,0000 of us would bellow at kick0ff time at the start of every game. Once again, the New Yawkers rise to the top, from nowhere; and the Giants are going to the Super Bowl….I don’t think WDEL will be holding a superbowl rally at Stanley’s this year.

My first football game was Sunday December 7, 1941…..sound familiar? Pearl Harbor Day. We never knew what was happening….some time in the first half of the game the Polo Grounds announcer called out: “Attention please, all service personnel; report to your bases immediately”. Of course, back then, no one had transister radios or anything. We all had to wait until we got home at about 5pm, to find out that WW 11 started.

Back to the Giants…..about 80 percent of the time during every pre-game TV football experts’ show was taken up with all kinds of BS about how the Giants could never beat Tampa Bay…ooops…they beat them/ then the same thing…”The Giants could never beat Dallas”…ooops…they beat them….then last Sunday, “Green Bay will run the Giants right off the field” oooops the Giants win and are in the Super Bowl…and all the bullshitters are watching it on TV…..including all those Eagles Fans who know as much about football as Therman Adams knows about open government…..NOW GET THIS! THE GIANTS WILL BEAT NEW ENGLAND IN TWO WEEKS……That is not blind loyalty…..have you noticed…..the Patriots have been getting just a little worse every week for the last month of the season….winning by less and less, almost getting beat…the Giants were only a minute away from beating them in the last game of the regular season.
Meanwhile, as the Patriots are getting worse each week, the Giants have been getting better each week. Watch how the Vegas odds go down every few days before the Super Bowl is played in two weeks…..the Vegas odds now say that the Giants will lose by 14 points….that will change….

Pensylvania has about twelve million people. They have many, more organizations than we do, many more critics, many more crooks, many more do-gooders, much more of everything,
including gonads! They made some huge changes; literally forced the entire legislature to give back a raise, even after some of them had already spent it. They voted out of office more than 50% of their encumbants who were….well, let’s say “who were their equivalents to our Adams, and McDowell”.
So how come a little state like ours is jammed packed with people who TALK a good game, but who stand around with their collective fingers up their butts, instead of DOING things?

Recently enough people and organzations united, and petitioned the Governor to call a special session of the legislature, DEVOTED EXCLUSIVELY TO RAISE STANDARDS OF PUBLIC INTEGRITY IN PENNSYLVANIA.

The Movement is called Democracy Rising.

Those Pennsylvania groups admitted that they have differences among themselves about some specifics, but they agreed that all points of view deserved a open honest all-inclusive public debate. They also called for a constitutional convention to move on amendments: like a new system of re-districting/
a new way to select judges/ allowing citizens to have the power of initiative, referendum and recall
MAN! THAT’S THE WAY TO RUN A PUBLIC MOVEMENT.
Apparently, they also know how to express themselves:
“When you compromise the integrity of HOW things get done,
you compromise the integrity of WHAT things get done”,
“Corrupton costs, and integrity saves.” said Tim Potts of Democracy Rising.

That’s right….I’m enjoying every minute of it, and if you are honest, you would do the same thing, if they had screwed you. The radio business sinks or swims by how many people are actually listening to the station. Lots of listeners mean hight ratings, and few listeners means low ratings. High ratings means lots of advertising, low ratings (which stations try to hide from advertisers) mean lousy advertising income.

SO, GIVEN THAT AS A BACKGROUND, LET’S SEE HOW WDEL DID IN THE FALL RATINGS BOOK PERIOD. “FALL” MEANS MORE THAN JUST THE SEASON OF THE YEAR
IT DEPICTS WHAT HAPPENED TO WDEL…FAAAALLLLLL (actually, free fall).
The Fall ratings period goes from September (month)of my firing, up until end of December. How did WDEL do?
STATISTICS FOR THE 25 TO 54 YEAR OLDS which is the primary market group they aim toward:

6AM UNTIL 10AM–STAYED ABOUT THE SAME, OVER 3
Mascitti gets dragged along for and hour after our great news team.
BUT:
FROM MASCITTI’S HOURS 10am TO NOON, AND RICK AND BRI FROM 1pm to 4 pm—-THE GUT OF THE TALK SHOW SEGMENTS…ARE YOU READY FOR THE NUMBERS?
MORE THAN A FIFTY PERCENT DROP IN LISTERNERS SINCE SEPTEMBER.
I REPEAT–MORE THAN 50% DROP.
FROM 1.5 TO .6 (a freakin’ point 6) I’ve never seen a number that low in my 6 years in radio.
That translates into about as many people listening from wdel from 1pm till 4pm as hang out at the Rodney Square benches on a rainy winter’s day.
I’m sorry, but I can’t stop giggling….I’m sure you understand. THE NUMBERS HAVE NEVER BEEN THAT LOW IN THE HISTORY OF THE “RICK JENSEN SHOW”

Before I arrived, the show had ratings like 1.8, and 3.3; When they put me on full time it jumped to 4.1.
Rick and Ger never lost to WILM when we were on in the mornings—now, WIlm bitch slaps Mascitti regularly.
With a .6 rating, Elmer Fudd reading stock market results from 1pm to 4pm, would draw more listeners than “Rick and Whomever”

Good luck guys and gals, I have to go now, and try to guess how the station brass and the Gerry-haters will spin these documented facts to meet their expectations.
Believe me, just as they lied “We never fired Gerry, he quit”. To fake you out, along with advertisers, I’m sure they will come up with a cute little radioeese twist like, “It’s not so bad, we have evidence that out-of-space aliens are big fans and the numbers haven’t been counted yet”…Whatever…..
